Recent MDiv’17 graduate Tanner Fox penned this year’s Statement of Gratitude on behalf of the graduating class. Tanner has recently been called as Minister of Mission at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Orlando. His statement reads as follows:
Today we gather together to celebrate the perseverance and achievements of the graduating class of 2017. The completion of this journey is coupled with hearts overflowing with emotion. Joy, relief, excitement, anticipation, and gladness are a few of those emotions culminating into one rich tapestry of thankfulness. I have heard it said that to have true joy is to be thankful. On this day joy certainly abounds, and that joy is made complete as we express our gratitude.
To the faculty, we joyfully pour out our thanks. Your faithfulness to the Lord, to his Word, and to his people is not only evident but copious. We have been blessed by your knowledge and expertise, but also by your friendship and love. We are forever
thankful for how you have so significantly invested in each of our lives. May the Lord bless each of you as you continue to answer the call of preparing the next generation of pastors and scholars.
To the staff and administration, we joyfully pour out our thanks. The “behind-the-scenes” nature of your work for this institution and for its students is never fully known or honored, but for every minute that you have given we are thankful. May the Lord bless you as you seek to honor God in continuing his Kingdom work.
To our families and friends, we joyfully pour out our thanks. Without your love, strength, encouragement, grace, patience, and sacrifice we would not be standing here today. Thank you for wholeheartedly supporting the call that God has placed on our hearts and for allowing us the great privilege of pursuing vocational ministry. May the Lord bless us as we take these next steps of faith together.
Finally, we must praise and thank God from whom all blessings flow. Heavenly Father, for your unwavering faithfulness and tenacious pursuit of each of us, we give you thanks. For the revelation of your authoritative and inspired word, we give you thanks. For the ways in which the Holy Spirit empowers and equips us to fight this Kingdom fight, we give you thanks. And for your son, Jesus, the perfect, spotless Lamb who was crucified on our behalf so that we might become adopted heirs of your Holy Kingdom, we give you thanks. Amen.
