On Friday, December 1st the student body gathered for an end-of-semester Christmas party with a sophisticated twist. The fellowship hall was decorated to the nines with lights, candles, hand-painted tree branches, ornaments, tablecloths, and much more. While the little ones did crafts in the foyer (read: destroyed the place) and enjoyed our new popcorn machine (read: spoiled their dinner), the adults enjoyed some time chatting over appetizers.
We then sat down for the main meal, which featured a smoked ham and sides from 4Rivers Smokehouse. After that, we brought out s’mores kits, including real, working grills for each table (no reports of smoke-related injuries…though I think we came close). The children then gathered for a brief showing of Charlie Brown Christmas while the adults enjoyed more time of fellowship. After a giveaway of Jessi Trigger’s latest album (her husband is an RTS alumnus), we called it a night.
Many thanks to Melody, Chrissy, and Cheryl for their work coordinating the evening (though there are many others who pitched in, especially the post-party cleanup crew!).
Merry Christmas, everyone!
